Being that I have run a studio for over 20 years and have been a musician for over 35 years I have acquired a lot of equipment. This gear gives me the ability to access many different sounds in the recording process. I really love old equipment and for a few years spent many hours on ebay finding drums that I’ve always wanted but could never afford when I was younger. Here is a list of my gear.
Drums:
1938 Slingerland Radio Kings in white marine pearl 9x13, 16x16, and 22 inch kick
1948 WFL’s in white marine pearl 9x13, 16x16, and 22 inch kick
1951 WFL’s in white marine pearl 9 x13, and 24 inch kick
1952 Slingerland floor tom converted to a kick 18x20
1959 Leedy kit in black 8x12, 14x14 and 20 inch kick
1970’s Ludwig jazz kit in black 8x12, 14x14 and 18 inch kick
1974 Rogers kit in butcher block 8x12, 9x13, 16x16, 18x18 and 22 inch kick
1978 Ludwig kit in Black 9x13, 10x14, 16x16 and 22 inch kick
1980 2 kits of Milestone drums 10x12, 12x13, 14x14, 16x16, 22 and 24 inch kick
2000 kit of Ayotte (Canadian) drums with wood hoops 10x12, 14x14, and 20 inch kick
I also have many different snares
1938 Radio King 6 ½ x 14
1952 WFL 5 ½ x14
1959 Leedy 5 ½ x14
1963 Slingerland 5 ½ x14
1969 Ludwig Super Sensitive 5 ½ x14
1970 Rogers Dynasonic 5 ½ x 14
1971 Ludwig Super 400 5 ½ x14
1974 Ludwig Vistalite 5 ½ x 14
1978 Ludwig Super Sensitive 6 ½ x14
1980 Milestone 6 ½ x14
2000 Ayotte wood hoop 5 ½ x 14
For our next recordings I think I will use a combo of the 1959 Leedy and 1947 WFL drums. For these recordings I want that older sound that you get from mahogany drums. As far as snares go I think I’ll try the Radio King, Ayotte and either the 1969 Super Sensitive or the Rogers Dynasonic.
Guitars:
1969 Martin “D-41”
1979 Yamaha Classical
1983 Larrivee “L-09”
1989 Guild 12 string Jumbo
2005 National “Estralita Deluxe”
2007 Gibson Dove “Elvis model”
1960’s Kay semi acoustic
1967 Gretsch “Viking”
1969 Gibson “SG”
1976 Fender “Precision Bass”
1982 Fender “1952 reissue Telecaster”
1984 Ibanez “Firebrand”
1980 Ibanez “Roadstar”
1986 Ibanez “Artist” bass
2006 Fender 12 String “Stratocaster”
Amplifiers:
1963 Fender Deluxe Reverb
1963 Fender Blonde Bassman
1964 Fender Deluxe Reverb
1968 Fender Princeton
1968 Fender Bandmaster Reverb
1972 Fender Bandmaster Reverb
1978 Fender Princeton Reverb
1978 Marshall JMP 50 watt
1995 Fender Blues Deluxe
For our next recordings I think I will use a most of the guitars in my collection. I am quite excited about using my “Estrlita”, my “Dove” and my Gretsch “Viking” which is being repaired for the upcoming recording sessions. I’m sure I’ll use the D-41 and the Larrivee as well, as these are exceptional instruments. Once again I would like to try and get an older style sound in the recordings, these guitars with my old mics should do the job.
