Blair Brezinski - Bass Guitar & Vocals
Blair Brezinski
- Bass Guitar & Vocals -
Blair starting on the bass late in high school back in 1984.   At first there was no intention on picking up the bass.   It all started when his brother Kevin and a friend purchased a bass and an amplifier and just left it in the basement where they played.   No one else was playing it at the time so Blair picked it up and has not stopped since.   A few years later he joined his first band, a classic rock trio called "Riff Raff" and has been playing in numerous bands since with many local musicians.   He has had the pleasure of performing in virtually every venue in Yellowknife and many establishments around the North.

Gear
I am currently switching between two bass guitars.   A 4-String Fender Precision and a 5-String Yamaha RBX series bass.   The Precision has a great feel and once I picked one up I quickly realized why they are so popular.   My P-bass is slightly modified with a set of EMG active pickups and a Leo Quan Badass II Bridge.   The 5-String bass offers a deeper sound naturally with a wider neck and a wider range of notes with the added B string.   I heard one played on stage and liked it's beefier sound.

I mainly use my one and only amplifier rig for bigger performances. It is a Marshall 4x10 bass cabinet and a Gallien-Krueger 15" bottom cabinet driven by a Marshall Bm2000 bass head.   It isn't my ideal rig but it actually has a good sound. When the band does smaller clubs I use a Gallien-Krueger Backline 112.   It's a small kickback style amp that delivers a great sound in a small package.   For the studio work I am pleased to use Norms 60's issue bassman head.   One day I'm gonna win the lottery and buy an Eden head and a 2x10 Gallien-Krueger top cabinet for my ideal rig.

I've tried some bass effects in the past like the boss LMB-3 for sound shaping but never really liked it.   For bass I prefer going direct with no effects at all.
